In 5DoF simulations, there are 3 translational degrees of freedom and 2 rotational degrees of freedom, either pitch and yaw, or roll and pitch. Typically Pitch and Bank is used along with longitude, lattitude, and altitude. There are trimmed aerodynamics with the use of the drag polars, and implicit control surfaces. The attitude dynamics are represented by transfer functions, with the output is the angle of attack. This AOA signal goes straight into the aerodynamic lookup tables.
