EQS was a MATLAB toolbox used by flight control systems engineers in the mid 90’s to reduce the order of aircraft models for flight control design. The steps in model reduction are listed below
- direct truncation of unconnected modes
- singular perturbation reduction (removes HF modes)
- modal truncation (removes less prevalent modes)
- balanced model reduction (also removes less prevalent modes)
- computation of equivalent time delay
